Natural history museum night safari

I don't remember during the day really noticing  the building much while busy peering at the exhibits.
But at night... the building comes alive and craves your attention just as much as any dinosaur might.
Its quite atmospheric at night and Halloween themed safari was very entertaining.  Everyone attending (hmm about 150) really wanted to be there, the guides note the calm quite of the evening, after the days of loud echoing children. Plus their is something infectious that drives your fascination, when you are shown and told about things directly from a scientist or archivist who is passionate about there subject and sharing there knowledge with you.

Michaelmas

"Old Michaelmas Day, 10th October, is the last day that blackberries should be picked.  It is said that on this day, when Lucifer was expelled from Heaven, he fell from the skies, straight onto a blackberry bush.  He then cursed the fruit, scorched them with his fiery breath, spat and stamped on them and made them unfit for consumption!  And so the Irish proverb goes.."

“On Michaelmas Day the devil puts his foot on blackberries”.
