Fireworks!!
Taking pictures of fireworks never really worked for me, i take a woosh or a flash of light and some smoke.. but the important part about fireworks is the people watching the "ohh" and "ahhh" effect they have. So this year i was wondering how i could get both the "ohh ahh" and the explosive lights in one shot in the tiny space.
The plan was to placed the camera at the other end of the garden undercover shooting back across the "launch pad and into the patio doors where people where cowering. Used a flash inside the house behind people bouncing off the walls to give them some light, strobe was set to mm maybe about 1/4 power. Then i would let the light from the firework hopefully light there faces.
After a few tests on the strobe placement and a couple of adjustments for the amount of light given off by the fireworks i was set.
I think next year ill try and light the peoples faces with a strobe too. leaving it to the fireworks is all very well but its not constant enough to get good results, anyway heres what i got.(btw the last 2 are no house flash battery's ran out so you can see the difference and because i just liked the pretty shapes)

unsharp eyes
Is it me? or are the pictures uploaded directly to the blog seeming to be a little soft?
Natural history museum night safari
I don't remember during the day really noticing the building much while busy peering at the exhibits.
But at night... the building comes alive and craves your attention just as much as any dinosaur might.
Its quite atmospheric at night and Halloween themed safari was very entertaining. Everyone attending (hmm about 150) really wanted to be there, the guides note the calm quite of the evening, after the days of loud echoing children. Plus their is something infectious that drives your fascination, when you are shown and told about things directly from a scientist or archivist who is passionate about there subject and sharing there knowledge with you.
